Almost all are although we only send the good quality bikes to Africa that our partners request from us.
Those bikes that don't pass our quality control (badly damaged or in very poor condition) are stripped down for much needed spare parts. They are packed in gaps between the bikes in the containers we ship and are very much appreciated by our partners to repair and maintain the bikes we send to help ensure they have the longest poissible working life. In 2016 we estimate that approximately 15% of the total bikes we received were stripped and sent as spare parts. A small number of bikes, especially those that would be difficult to maintain or are unsuitable for African roads, are refurbished and sold at Colchester to help towards our running costs. In 2015 we estimate we sold 3-4% of the total bikes we received.
