Re~Cycle is looking to recruit a Managing Director

Re~Cycle is a fast growing charity which specialises in collecting and shipping unwanted UK bikes to African countries to be reused by poor communities, primarily in rural parts of five African countries. We work with partners to ensure that bikes are put to effective and sustainable use. Our three strategic objectives are:

1.         Lives in Africa are genuinely enhanced through bicycle use

2.         Investment in local partnerships to respond to local needs

3.         Ensure Re~Cycle is replicable and sustainable.

Re~Cycle is at an exciting stage in its development and we are looking for an ambitious and committed Managing Director (MD) to both consolidate and grow: to take the organisation to another level whilst sustaining the strong team spirit which has made us so successful. The right person for this position will be able to steer growth according to our strategic plan, through harnessing donor activities, driving new programmes in Africa, and building and refining systems and process in our UK operation.

As MD you will co-ordinate the key functions of Fundraising, Marketing and Communications; African Partners and Programmes and UK Operations. You will liaise with the Trustees and Senior Management Team to support UK and Africa operations and growth areas. You will ensure UK operations are efficiently and effectively run and develop our focus on skills and training through our African partners and programmes. Mitigating operational risk and enabling individual team members to grow their functional roles and excel in their fields is a key aspect. You will be the public face of Re~Cycle and grow our external brand.
