Re~Cycle scores top in a search for "bicycle charity" (2009)

As such, I figure we can get other top/good hits, as there's a lot of good info on the site.

 

The text under Re~Cycle with the web search "bicycle charity" is (Sept 09)

"Once again, Re~Cycle was the charity partner of the Bicycle Film Festival (BFF) in London, at the Barbican for the second year. ..."

This was the first sentence of one of the news items, which may have been the top news item when Google crawled it?

This is not a bad thing to have, tho is not as descriptive as we might like.

How do we edit this?

How do we ensure that less Re~Cycle relevant first lines of news don't appear, eg. "Today is World Malaria Day.  Malaria is a preventable disease, yet it kills at least one million people worldwide every year and is Uganda's biggest child killer"

 

A new thing is that it has under it :

Donate Bikes - Find Out More - Last - Donate Money

Last seems totaly irrelevant, how do we change this?

  1. Enable Path Module and install and enable Pathauto, Global Redirect and Token Modules.
    1. Don't think we have this, what do you think?
  2. Configure the Pathauto Module
  3. Install and enable the Meta Tags Module.
  4. Install enable the Page Title Module
  5. Do NOT install the Drupal Sitemap Module.
  6. Fix .htaccess to redirect to "www" or remove the "www" subdomain.
    1. Grant (I think) spotted this as the issue why the search facility Geoff made does not work, though he or they have fixed an auto thing for that page  (http://re-cycle.org/Donate/Bike/Search)
    2. Should I put up that this in the tech Drupal vol job list, or not bother with it?
  7. Fix your theme's HTML headers if they aren't right
  8. Recommended: create a custom front page
  9. Modify your robots.txt file.
