London to Canterbury, with some detours to climb 4 hills, and thereby follow the Tour de France route - not for the faint hearted.
In 2009 some lovely people from Transport for London (TfL) kindly did this as a sponsored ride for Re~Cycle, and put a bunch of amazing documentation together.
Route sheet (one sheet of directions) - .xls - .ods
Lovely little map cards to take on the ride in your pocket
Spreadsheet with; Riders, mileages, support and more - .xls - .ods
Map showing where to stop = Dane John Mound + parking NOTE, suggest you're all aware of where this is, as you'll be tired and not want to mess around - there's a band stand nearby, and a little garden opposite.
Getting back afterwards:
Southeastern Trains do a group ticket for groups of 3 or 4 where you pay for 2 tickets and the rest go free. So for those heading back to London by train it’d be good to go in groups to make savings. Singles are £18. But these tickets are only available from the ticket office and not the ticket machines. So might be worth getting them in advance or as soon as we get to Canterbury (ticket office at Canterbury East is open til 20.15)
Thanks to Nick for the spreadsheet with the route timings, Duncan and Richard for the one that formed the detailed route sheet. Nick also did the OS mapping printouts, Neal did the turn by turn map books.
