The Royal Mail give us all their old bikes, which are great as they're designed for load carrying, have been looked after by full time mechanics and are all the same. The bikes are very highly regarded by our African partners and the end beneficiaries! You'll find lots of photos of the Royal Mail bikes in most sections, e.g. Africa Enterprise and Load Carry.

Training both mechanics and end users to look after and fix bikes is very important and has two main aims: make sure the bikes last a long time, and keep the running costs to a minimum.

One of Re~Cycle's main target groups in Africa is women. Many of our partners have (great) women mechanics, to help get over the gender stereotypes.
