Firefox is a good browser for this (and general use), and does auto log-on - get it HERE

Very basic see here - http://re-cycle.org/How_Edit

Remember to save the page after you've done the editing, by clicking "SUBMIT" at the bottom of the page. The Preview button will show you what the page will look like, but without saving it.

We suggest you expand the editing box to create a bigger window. Drag the bottom right corner of the editing window (little diagonal lines) down to make it easier to see what's going on. Or use the second to bottom left icon, which looks like a computer screen, toggles full screen.

FILE UPLOADS

Use the "File attachments" drop down under this editing box, above save / preview. Just browse and attach.

Please take the spaces out of filenames, replacing them with underscores, before you upload them

This means you don't get %20 all over the place.

If you know the path to the document, then you can create a conventional link anywhere you like. All your files are uploaded to the directory:

http://re-cycle.org/sites/re-cycle.org/files/

So, for example you have an image at:

http://re-cycle.org/sites/re-cycle.org/files/Colchester%20Womans%20Refug...

which you could link with the tag as:

Woman's Refuge letter

Please replace spaces in file names with - or _ , is neater - eg. /sites/re-cycle.org/files/how_to/tools_parts_africa/bb_tool_teeth.JPG

Copy the link from a simlar one, and add in / change folder if need be and file name.

Examples:

/sites/re-cycle.org/files/docs/directions_to_Re~Cycle_Colchester.pdf

/sites/re-cycle.org/files/docs/reports/africa/Design_and_Analysis_Ambulance_Bicycle Trailer_07.pdf

NB. Case sensitive.

ADD AN IMAGE TO THE PAGE

In the editing section under where you write, is a green box. Click that and paste in the url of the picture you've attached (by SFTP or bottom of the page you're editing - see above)

When image is in the page, can click on it, grab a coner and drag to resize.

Create / rename a gallery (or change parent)

Go to Administer, in the "Content management" section where you will see a link to Image galleries. Direct link: http://www.re-cycle.org/admin/content/image

Change URL alias:

http://re-cycle.org/admin/build/path
(Or go to "Administer" --> "URL aliases")

You will see a list of aliases that you can edit. You can also add an alias (see the tabs
List / add alias).

To create a new project:

 1. "Create content" (top left of menu bar)
 2. "Project"

This web site is currently using Drupal v 5.10

There are no compelling features in Drupal 6 that would justify the upgrade at present. Like a bottom bracket: if it ain't broke, don't fix it :-)
