Tips For Delivering Bikes
- Re~Cycle is ongoing, so please bring the bike when you're coming this way
- Taking the front wheel off makes it easier to get bikes in the back of your car
- Taking the pedals off helps us to store and transport bikes (NB. left pedal threads are backwards)
Unfortunately we do not have the resources to collect individual bikes but if you or someone you know is able to drop them off to us we would be pleased to see them.
Please contact us if you have a large number of bikes (30+) so that we may discuss possible ways of getting hold of them.
If you are far away and and not able to get your bike to us to ship to Africa but would like to support our work, please consider selling your bike and sending us the money as a donation. Or use our search facility to find a bike recycling project; any of the worthwhile projects you'll find this way would be pleased to make good use of it.

If it's not easy to get a bike (or parts, or tools) to us, please sell it in our Ebay charity shop (click here). You can say how much of the sales prices goes to Re~Cycle, from 10% to 100%. The listing fee is refunded proportionally, so if you're kind enough to give us 100%, the listing is free. There are more details about the scheme HERE.
FAQs
Do you collect bikes?
We do not have the resources (financial or human) to collect bikes and so we have to rely on people bringing the bikes to us. We realise that not everyone is able to bring their donated cycles to us, but if you have a friend, relative or neighbour who can bring the bike with them to Colchester, we would be very glad to see them.
I would like to donate my cycle but I live a long way away from Colchester...
We are delighted that you would like to donate your cycle to us but, unless you have the means to bring it to us in Colchester, it is probably better to look for a cycle recycling project nearer you using our search facility.
We're setting up a global database of bike re-use projects. There's a list of UK projects - here. And a search facility - here.
We're looking for help researching this, please look - here
