2010 Shipping Schedule & History

This page shows plans for future shipments of bikes.

PLEASE NOTE

  • Re~Cycle reserves the right to change things around or cancel
  • We have 'a situation' with the Royal Mail, in that we were originally told that we would be getting nearly 20,000 over the next two years as the RM Fleet of bikes is largly replaced by other delivery methods. This figure has now been cut to 7,000 bikes though even this is not 100% confirmed. We don't know for sure what's going on or when the promised bikes will start to arrive which is making it impossible for us to make definite plans. We will be very glad to see them when they do arrive although we are very disappointed about the massively reduced number.
  • We depend on bikes coming in, if more turn up, we'll ship sooner, if there are less coming in, things may spread out (though will try and counter this by upping the appeals for more bikes)
  • These are shipping dates from the UK, sea voyage roughly 3/4 weeks to get to coastal countries + time to clear customs + overland transport to final destination

2010

January - Kenya, Mombasa Olympic Youth Project supported by UK charity Glad's House

  • Shipment loaded 28 & 29 Jan - sadly no Royal Mail bikes in stock

February - Ghana, Village Bicycle Project & Ezetala

  • Shipment loaded 25 & 26 Feb - being shared between Village Bicycle Project and Ezetala to the benefit of both. Ezetala received half a container load - a more easily manageable quantity for their first consignment and Village Bicycle Project get another delivery of bikes sooner than they would otherwise have done. We are very pleased to see our partners cooperating and working together in this way. It opens up possibilities for more share consignments in the future.
  • Container purchased to stay in Ghana with Ezetala for storage
