Voluntours in South Africa say:

There are quite a few of them in which the rear wheel does not engage when peddling. The rear wheel turns if you are pushing the bike but does not turn when peddling – it seems to stick somehow.

Merlin says: please see if the issue is getting the clicks in the gear tooggle switch on handlebars to sync with the gears in the hub, like trigger shift gears needing to be in sync with the derralia cogs

Toggle chain - for hub gears

BEN Namibia asked aouut where they can get the gear chain / toggle chain

Pashley advises that Sturmey Hubs are NOT M10.5, they are 13/32 BSC.  Try Chronos Ltd or a similar company.
If you tell us what type of toggle chain / spindle is required we may be able to
look at this further.

I started seeing those postie tires everywhere, First in Lome, Togo, then Hohoe, Accra, Kumasi, Bolga.  My recollection is they were 26 X 1 1/2.
