We're excited to be working with the Salvation Army International Development Division, as part of an Anti Child Trafficking project. The bikes were en-route to Mchinji for an age, with dock troubles in South Africa, but after a long delay they've finally arrived!
Two of our volunteers have been out to help with setting up and training mechanics, but were initially thwarted by the aforementioned lack of bikes. However now the shipment has finally made it, they can begin their good work.
Alec and Violet visited our main Colchester depot in July 2011 to talk about how to improve and spread out our work. Looking at the impact of the bikes.
Haswell Jim, the project manager in Malawi, has posted some photographs of a container unloading to our facebook group, here.

To visit the project:
Mchinji centre is at Kayesa which is on the main road to Lilongwe about 2 kilometres outside Mchinji Boma. The centre should have a sign post by now. If you are coming from Mchinji, turn off to the right just before you get to Kayesa Inn. Otherwise just ask. If you want to go directly to the anti child trafficking centre then be sure to ask for that since there is a Salvation Army church in the town.
